Splendid patterns with a stately-home wallpaper quality, a perfect description for Baroque. Italian Baroque fashion is inspired by Michelangelo's 16th century works, borrowing volutes and spiraling shapes that climb up the female body or embellish basic accessories, adding a sophisticated touch and making a statement.
Baroque print plays out in a number of guises with varying degrees of intensity. For the bold, flashy chain prints on leopard spots intertwine with ropes on bomber jackets, elsewhere strikes of swirling black fauna adorn pencil skirts, while baroque tops with softer, ornate rococo swirls flow gently across jersey.
Also Baroque-inspired: the shapes of Dolce & Gabbana that propose a dress with bodice and stiff padding to enhance the curves, featuring golden embroidery on a black backdrop, to team with a jewel-like clutch.
