Trend Report : Sunny Yellow

For spring, there isn’t a colour more associated with the season than this sunny hue; reminds me of daffodils, sunflowers, and baby chicks. This trend is fun and playful and there is something out there for girls of every style and budget. With stylish stars like Nicole Richie and Reese Witherspoon leading the way, it is hard not to want to give it a try.

Who is trying this trend?
Heidi Klum kicked off this bright new trend when she wore a shimmering yellow Versace dress to the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party in West Hollywood. Just a few weeks later, Reese Witherspoon wore a yellow Louis Vuitton dress to the premiere of This means war in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A day after that, Nicole Richie wore a leather Thakoon dress for an appearance on Extra in Los Angeles. Last, but certainly not least, we spotted Elizabeth Banks in a gorgeous Bill Blass gown at the premiere of The Hunger Games in London, England.

How are they styling it?
All fashionistas give their yellow dress their own personal twist. Reese made her sunny yellow dress stand out by pairing it with black accessories; specifically a waist belt and Jimmy Choo heels. Elizabeth went in the opposite direction and paired her gown with a yellow Judith Leiber croc clutch, which helped catch the eye just as much as her dress did. Nicole paired her dress with pieces from her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line, but she also added a brown vintage belt, which gave it a touch of Nicole’s signature bohemian look. Heidi opted  thefor glamorous side by pairing her dress with gold-tipped Christian Louboutin heels and a gold clutch.

Accessories?
For more formal events, I suggest you follow the lead of Heidi and opt for yellow or gold. If you want to take tips from Reese and make sure your dress stands out, try a pair of black heels, if you love Nicole's style, add a personal touch to your look by picking out a vintage accessory.
